Almost all of them are struggling\u2014and for good reason.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Project schedules are dynamic. Project management discipline is inconsistent. And let\u2019s be honest, our people aren\u2019t interchangeable parts. This is especially true in design and construction, but it\u2019s not unique to our industry.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where most of these conversations go next is predictable: <em>What software should we use?<\/em><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019d argue that\u2019s the wrong question.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Too often, we try to solve an operational problem with a tool. Resource management isn\u2019t a software problem\u2014it\u2019s a People and Process problem first. Tools come later.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes, there are plenty of platforms out there\u2014some standalone, some baked into your ERP. And while implementing one might feel like progress, it rarely delivers the result you\u2019re hoping for. Why? Because the underlying issues weren\u2019t addressed.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your team isn\u2019t clear on how work gets assigned, if roles and reporting lines are fuzzy, if deadlines are more suggestion than commitment\u2014no software is going to fix that.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact, for most small to mid-sized firms, enterprise-level tools are overkill. Get very clear on how resource management actually works in your business:<\/p><ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li>How are assignments made?<\/li><li>Who is accountable for what?<\/li><li>What does \u201cdone\u201d really mean?<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-28f9f31 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"28f9f31\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;_ha_eqh_enable&quot;:false}\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-95cc0de elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"95cc0de\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then move to <strong>people<\/strong>. In many cases, a basic system (or even what you already have) is more than enough to support a well-defined process and a disciplined team.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hard truth: <strong>there is no silver bullet here.<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But if you get <strong>People<\/strong> and <strong>Process<\/strong> right, the tool becomes obvious\u2014and a lot less important.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Your Tools aren&#8217;t the problem.
